A rare pencil drawing by my father Vladimir Aleksandrovich Yurkin.
A painting of this drawing (in oil) is in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. The drawing depicts the future president of North Korea, Kim Jong-il (grandfather of the current president of North Korea, Kim Jong-un). Perhaps the painting depicts a friend of Kim Jong-il. Who will understand these Koreans? The drawing is dated 1944, when there were many of these North Koreans in the city of Moscow during Stalin’s time. The caption for the figure is located in the upper right corner. I think that this portrait of a Korean from 1944 will be of interest not only to North Koreans, but also to South Koreans.
