I had a dream of buying myself a car, and I managed to realize it last year. I bought it below the market price, planning to repair it on my own. My job used to offer a good salary, allowing me to spend around $200 per month on repairs. Before all this mess with rising prices and the disappearance of spare parts, I was able to fix the front suspension, paint part of the body, and take care of minor engine issues. It cost me about $1,500 over 5 months, and I had hoped to finish the entire car by summer to start driving it.

However, life had other plans, and I found myself at a dead end. After completely disassembling the rear suspension, I planned to slowly purchase parts for restoration, but the prices rose significantly. Now, the car stands with only the front wheels. There’s no rear suspension at all, and I have no idea when I’ll be able to fix it.

With a small child and living in northern British Columbia, I currently can’t afford the repairs. Based on calculations, even if I purchase non-original, average-priced parts and do the work myself, it’ll cost about $2,000. It seems my dream of driving this car this summer might not come true.

The photo shows my car. In terms of spare parts, I need to buy a rear beam (rusted through), all control arms with bushings or just the bushings, a hub bearing (1 piece), and rear brake pads for the handlebars. That’s my situation.
