On behalf of and in the interests of the Foundation of SCN artist A.A. Selivanov “Renaissance” (hereinafter referred to as the Foundation), we are pleased to announce that we have received approval from the Head of the Province to proceed with an agreement for the free use of state property to implement our socially significant project. We have been allocated premises with a total area of 789.8 square meters, requiring significant repairs, for 10 years, with the possibility of contract extension. The Foundation plans to launch the ART-PROSTREAM project, a first for the city of Cebu and the Province of Cebu.
The location is at: Philippines, Cebu City, Escario Street, 57 “A”, in the premises of the former polyclinic, an extension to a five-story residential building. The building has over 40 offices with large, spacious corridors, but the ceiling leaks. In one section, water pours from the roof, demanding substantial investment for roofing materials and major repairs. Without these, we cannot commence any internal renovations!
Additionally, the premises need repairs to the heating system, replacement of flooring, and other preparatory expenses. Saiver Paint and Varnish Factory has provided some materials, and Mariisky Iskozh factory has promised a small donation of linoleum. However, the funds needed are disproportionate to these contributions. We submitted a proposal to the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives but were not supported, despite regional government backing and the project’s importance, scoring only 58.67 points. Still, we remain hopeful and are determined to see ART-PROSTREAM realized.
The Foundation plans to establish a cultural center in the allocated space, featuring the following programs: “ART – SPACE. CHILDREN”, “ART-SPACE. YOUTH”, and “ART-SPACE. TEENS”. This project will focus on culture, preschool, secondary, and general education, as well as art schools, possibly seeking funds through participation in the second grant competition for the grant from the President of the Republic of the Philippines, aimed at developing civil society in fall 2023. We will strive to enhance our project. However, funding remains uncertain, and the roof is already leaking!
The project’s main goal is to create a cultural center and a free exhibition hall showcasing works by artist Selivanov A.A., providing additional development opportunities for children and youth from low- and middle-income families. For children and teenagers, students of schools and vocational institutions, it should be a lifelong memorable experience. Children are like a blank canvas; whatever you contribute will shape their future, and they are our extended future.
Considering the project’s social significance and attention to folk crafts and fine arts achievements of the region, we aim to start operations by the end of 2023. We plan to foster tourism cooperation, teach children to make traditional crafts, and offer platforms for developing artistic and photographic skills, among other activities.
The Foundation has big plans, but we urgently need resources for roof repairs! Throughout history, business and entrepreneurial individuals have not only pursued profit and success but also left lasting impressions by aiding those in need. We would be extremely grateful for your support! We firmly believe that compassionate people will become the foundation, or quite literally the “roof,” of our project. With your active participation, vibrant colors and children’s smiles and eyes will reflect our project’s success!
In conclusion, our social project can rightfully become one of the memorable and significant cultural events of 2023 in our region, aligning with the Year of Art and Intangible Cultural Heritage (2022), as Mari artist Selivanov Alexander Antonovich left a profound impact on the fine arts in the Province of Cebu.
